BioCoat™ – Bioactive Resin Pit and Fissure Sealant
Premier® Dental introduces BioCoat™ a breakthrough new bioactive resin pit and fissure sealant containing an innovative, patented SmartCap™ Technology. BioCoat is a 56% filled resin sealant that provides lasting wear protection with a compressive strength comparable to flowable composites. When dispensed, BioCoat’s thixotropic thinning properties allow for deep penetration into the tightest pits and fissures for excellent adaptation and adhesion to the enamel.
SmartCap™ Technology, developed in partnership with Creighton 
University, utilizes patented semi-permeable resin microcapsules. In BioCoat, the rechargeable SmartCap microcapsules are filled with ionic solutions of fluoride, calcium and phosphate, which diffuse in and out of the sealant. The ions supersaturate the oral environment around the enamel, which provides an extra line of defense against demineralization during acid attacks. The extended release of remineralization ions provides long-term protection while strengthening enamel and sealing margins against microleakage. Unlike with glass ionomers, there is no degradation of the restoration resulting from the fluoride release.
BioCoat is heavily filled, flows without bubbles and offers the extra protection from extended release of fluoride and remineralization ions!
